As someone once said (I think it was me) - Life is nothing if not a climbing wall. Can we live by this thesis - perhaps not, but when we're up there hanging on to these frail bits of rock or plastic for dear life we can remember that we are one step higher in that climbing wall of life!! Another quote of which i am particularly fond is this - "It is not because things are difficult that we do not try them, it is because we do not try them that they are difficult". Tomorrow im soloing el cap!! However this one seems bizarrely pessimistic but it is so bizarre that i thought it right to give it to you - - "Why learn to play the lyre Socrates when you are going to die"
- "So i can play the lyre before i die!!"
Another of petzl's greatly inspirational comments!

Myself
Originated from downtown Knowle, and have been climbing nigh on five years. More of a competition climber than anything, train about four times a week when possible. A note to all songwriters, why can every song invented consist easily of solely the words - "Jim is gay"? - It's not true before you get any ideas! |
The picture above was taken in Lauterbrunnen on an Oakhall skiing holiday, climbing and snowboardin are always the two sports people do. If you climb but dont board - I recommend you try it. The picture on the right (let's not go there)

Other favourite past-times
A lot of the stuff on this site will sound very strange to you if you're not familiar with Big Love - some of the songs in particular, i'll endeavour to help you comprehend just a small part of our everyday enjoyment. 1. "Stick it" - It's probably a good idea to talk to someone about that 'cause i don't wannna offend anyone!! 2. Not suprisingly some of Birminghams Big Love monuments are close to the rockface, and barely a day goes by when the the Giant Red Thing is not subject to abuse - the Giant Red Thing being a strange climbing frame randomly positioned outside millenium point for any of you who are interested in joining us!! (A picture of said 'Giant Red Thing will be here shortly)

Cast your minds back, if you will, to those windswept summer nights of your pre-GCSE years. Did you ever during that time seek amusement in the form of barbecues in Dorridge Park - if not we (Me neither!!) have obviously missed out on one of the many past-times of andys' gang of pals. Other's include: - Hiding in bushes in dark alleyways - Sleeping in Knowle Bus shelter (when home is 30seconds walk away!) - Spending countless hours asking people to buy you beer outside one-stop - Walking from Knowle to Dorridge (while looking menacing) and then back again!!

However, perhaps there is just a touch of pot calling the kettle black here as Myself, Carl and Andy have spend many a night traipsing into Solihull at about 8, getting turned down from every bar in town and returning home on the next train to play Goldeneye!! What a life!

I figure that seeing as the most important aspect in my life is Christianity, i'd better mention it even if it doesn't fit with the rest of the page. In my opinion, Climbing and Snowboarding and two of the most amazing sports because God's creation is just so clear - whatever you believe in, I can't believe that you can look at the mountains, at the rocks, at whatever your looking at and truly believe it was made by a coincidence?
